At The Beaumont, being part of the community in Hexham means much more than simply operating a hotel, bar and restaurant. It means supporting the people around us, coming together for meaningful causes, and creating a place where the local community can connect.
One cause especially close to our hearts is our ongoing fundraising to support Amelie, the daughter of our Directors Roger and Magda.
Amelie is a bright and determined 13-year-old who lives with Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, a rare condition that mainly affects the skeletal muscles responsible for movement.
As a result, Amelie experiences severe muscle weakness and stiffness in her joints, particularly in her knees and hips, alongside hypermobility in several others. She has been a powered wheelchair user since the age of five. Maintaining muscle strength, joint mobility, exercise tolerance and cardiovascular health is increasingly challenging.
This is why fundraising support from the community in Hexham has become so important in helping Amelie access specialist equipment that can improve her mobility and quality of life.

Over the years our incredible team has also taken on some inspiring challenges for charity.
These efforts reflect how deeply we value being part of the Hexham community.
In February, Amelie and her best friend Orla came up with the ambitious idea to cycle the length of the country in 24 hours, they joined forces family, friends and community in Hexham for this amazing challenge.
The goal was to raise £28,000 to purchase an Innowalk Machine, a life-changing piece of equipment designed for people with moderate to severe physical disabilities.
The Innowalk is the only motorised standing trainer designed for home use. It allows children and adults to safely stand and move, helping to improve circulation, mobility and muscle strength.
The event began at 5pm on Friday 20th, when our team mounted a brigade of 12 stationary bikes, kindly lent to us by friends and neighbours. What followed was an incredible display of support from the community in Hexham:
By the early hours of Saturday morning, the team had already reached the original distance target — but they kept going.
Fresh cyclists arrived Saturday morning to continue the journey, fuelled a beautiful breakfast buffet put together by friends and family. By 5pm Saturday evening, the team had completed the challenge and raised an incredible £23,000, bringing us close to our goal.
The event was later featured in the Newcastle Chronicle, and donations continued to arrive.
Today, thanks to the generosity of the community in Hexham, the total exceeded £27,000.
To keep the momentum going, we hosted a special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea fundraiser at The Beaumont.
The event celebrated everything that makes the community in Hexham so special — generosity, kindness and a willingness to support each other.
We were deeply touched by the response from our suppliers and partners. One particularly generous contribution came from Gusbourne, a leading name in England’s wine industry. They donated an exceptional raffle prize:

Thanks to this incredible support, the fundraising total has now surpassed the £28,000 target and exceeded £33,000 — a truly remarkable achievement for everyone involved.

Hexham Book Festival returns for the 20th year! An being right next door, we were at the centre of it all. From pre-talk coffee to post show dinner, we were there for it all and loved the buzz around Hexham as spring reared its head once again.
